In Daio, travelers can see how the fishing industry thrives while catching a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. The Daiosaki Lighthouse is a popular tourist destination thanks to its history and the view it offers. For 200 yen, guests can ascend the lighthouse and take in the scenery. The area around the lighthouse also contains an assortment of restaurants that prepare freshly caught seafood, with the grilled oysters being second to none.

The Ise Shima region is known for its love of seafood; this love extends to snacks as well. The area has several seafood snack oddities visitors might be interested in. One of the most interesting treats is the lobster ice cream at Haneyasume. This ice cream is described as having a strong vanilla or sakura flavor that leaves the taste of lobster in the mouth. The restaurant also has other food on the menu, such as hamburgers and fries, making it perfect for a pit stop during a busy day of sightseeing. Haneyasume is located at the Toba Observatory at the top of Mt. Hakoda, so you’d be advised to rent a car to visit this location. This region also produces a variety of seafood rice crackers. Along with the standard shrimp rice crackers, a common snack popular throughout Asia, there are less common flavors, such as sea urchin, squid, and mackerel.

Along with winding mountain roads and ocean views, travelers also have the chance to get out on the water for pleasure cruises. Shima Marine Leisure takes visitors on cruises through the Ago Bay, an area filled with dozens of small islands. There are several courses available, but the most popular option by far is the Espana cruise, which takes guests aboard an old-fashioned pirate-style ship. The tour lasts approximately one hour and costs 1,600 yen for adults and 800 yen for children. To get to Shima Marine Leisure, get off at Kashikojima Station and take a five-minute walk south to the port.

Lastly, for people who just want to relax on the beach or take a dip in the ocean, Goza Beach is an excellent choice. Located on the tip of the Daio Peninsula, tourists have raved about its white sands and clear waters. Visitors wanting to stay a little longer can check out the Gozamisaki campgrounds nearby. Just a 10-minute walk from Goza beach, guests can either set up their own tents or rent various rooms available on the property. Prices for rooms vary wildly over the course of the year, as there are peak and off-peak season prices, as well as various promotions, but generally, the prices range from 7,500 to 15,000 yen a night. They have rooms that can accommodate from 5 to 13 people, depending on traveler’s needs.
