Years ago, in the 40’s, there was an organization built upon saving the world from the children of evil. After many years of protecting the world from these atrocities the British military moved in to stop this organization not knowing fully the reason for their existence. The society’s leader fled and escaped and since has not been found and is assumed deceased. The inner workings of the group have been lost but not forgotten. That was over six decades ago and times have changed.
In our growing society myths and tales, passed down from earlier times, are regarded as only to scare children and provide a form of entertainment. The chances of real Vampires are slim to nothing. Although there are occults and groups who would say otherwise in this manner of Vampirism. Over the hundreds and thousands of years, humans have slowly evolved and those of human origins have done the same. Things that go bump in the night have bumped for centuries without the public’s knowledge.
Vampires, who actually run most of the world, control most of the politics and economy in three different countries, mainly Europe. They label themselves as the “Revenant." The word Revenant’s translation means a mythical, visible ghost or animated corpse that has returned from the grave to terrorize the living. The word "revenant" is derived from the French, revenir, "to return", and shares etymology with "revenue". Their very origin of coming into existence is a mystery that only the Vampire Lord knows, having lived the longest.
The Revenant consist of mainly Vampires, seeing themselves as a Hierarchy race of beings and not want to associate themselves with filth such as Zombies but this does not stop them from keeping contact with other supernatural brethren that come in all shapes and sizes but mainly resembling the western and eastern belief of demons. In the same fashion, some vampires are bound to the religious weakness and are vulnerable to such things as holy water.
There are different factions that constantly feud over power and dominance in the world, but there are also groups and organization which only thrive to make these actions invisible to the virgin public. These "rebels" of sorts have spread as much as the demonic creatures have. Although the creatures constantly feud, they share the same hatred against the Rebels and can and have formed alliances when dealing with such. The rebels have identified themselves as their predecessors as Hellsing.
