  • Onomichi Fureainosato Onsen
    Hiroshima Onomichi-shi Mitsugicho Takao 1369
    Known as the retreat of Onomichi, this natural hot spring hotel, laying a ways away from the city center, has 13 different varieties of baths for visitors to enjoy. The facility's simple, mildly radioactive cold mineral spring is said to treat a wide array of ailments, including gout, hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, chronic inflammation of the gallbladder, gallstones, chronic dermatitis, and chronic women's diseases. Situated between the Sanin and Shikoku regions, the facility is both a perfect mid-trip rest point and destination in and of itself. The bathhouse is open to non-guests and the hotel offers day-trip spa plans which include a meal as well. The hotel's cuisine, made with an abundance of fish from the Seto Inland Sea; Onomichi vegetables; and other fresh, local ingredients; is quite popular.

  • Kinoe Onsen
    Hiroshima Toyota-gun Osakikamijima Cho Okiura 1900 Hotel Seifu Yakata
    A hot spring district situated in Osakikamijima Town west of the Shimanami Kaido connecting Hiroshima and Ehime. The area's chloride cold mineral spring contains an abundance of sodium and calcium and is said to treat a wide array of ailments. Believed to ease nerve pain, joint pain, sensitivity to cold, and high blood pressure among other illnesses, many tourists come here after a hospital stay seeking to speed their recovery. Hotel Seifukan, situated along the coast, is the sole hot spring hotel in the district; the hotel's vaunted outdoor bath offers a sweeping view of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. On the days of the spring tide, bathers can even watch tides whirling right below them. Hiroshima Prefecture grows 50% of all of Japan's lemons; Osakikamijima Town, in particular, cultivates large quantities of the fruit, and sometimes fragrant, locally-grown lemons are floated in the waters of the hot spring bath tubs here, further adding to the atmosphere.

  • Yuki Onsen
    Hiroshima Hiroshima-shi Saeki-ku Yukicho Tada 2563-1
    Said to have been discovered some 1,500 years ago, this hot spring district serves as the retreat of Hiroshima. Consisting of ryokan inns standing eave to eave along a river, one of the things that make this district so popular is the song of kajika frogs and the sight of fireflies visitors can enjoy. The waters of the area's simple mildly radioactive springs are said to treat such ailments as rheumatoid arthritis, sensitivity to cold, minor high blood pressure, and chronic illnesses. Yuki Town's weeping cherry trees come into beautiful bloom in spring and are popular with photography lovers. Whatever time of year you come, there's some seasonal specialness waiting to greet you, including fireflies in summer, hiking in autumn, and ancient kagura Shinto music and dance performances in winter. In addition, Sandankyo Gorge, considered one of Japan's five most beautiful gorges and a designated Special Place of Scenic Beauty, is located just a 90 minute drive away.

  • Mega Hira Onsen
    Hiroshima Hatsukaichi-shi Yoshiwa
    An established natural hot spring resort located in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture at the foot of Nishi-Chugoku Sanchi Quasi-National Park boasting beautiful, seasonal scenery. Here visitors can enjoy hot spring bathing and top quality comforts and leisure to their heart's content. The resort is known for its outdoor baths created from a huge, 45,000 year old fossilized tree (located in the Kua Garden Spa and women's bath areas, only), which are equal in popularity to the Kua Garden Spa facility itself.   • Kimita Onsen
    Hiroshima Miyoshi-shi Kimitacho Izumiyoshida
    An alkaline spring, unusual in the Chugoku-Shikoku region, welling up on the grounds of Roadside Station Forest Kimita downriver from Kannosekyo Gorge, known for its beautiful seasonal scenery. A privately owned carbon dioxide spring with a pH of 6.5, its milky white waters are said to leave the skin silky smooth. The Kimita Onsen inn's bathhouse has a variety of baths, including classic small vase-like tubs, a cascading shower bath, jacuzzi, and pressure bath; the inn's outdoor bath, surrounded by natural beauty, offers bathers an unprecedented sense of freedom and airiness. Kimita is filled with rustic scenery, and visitors can visit the Eight Picturesque Sights of Kimita or see if they can spot rare wild animals in Kannosekyo Gorge Nature Park. Non-guests can also use the bathhouse facilities; for visitors looking for lodgings, the inn has Japanese-style and Western-style cottages.

  • Tomonoura Onsen
    Hiroshima Fukuyama-shi Tomochotomo 136
    This brand new hot spring district, located on the tip of the Numakuma Peninsula, was only first developed in 2002. The area's radium springs boast some of the highest radium quantities in the country and their waters are said to treat nerve pain, muscle soreness, joint pain, and other ailments. In addition to hot spring hotels and inns, area visitors can also take in the natural beauty of Sensuijima Island and choose from a wide array of hot spring options, from high class resort-style hotel bathhouses to casual day trip hot spring facilities. Tomonoura is centered on Teramachi-dori Street, a road built in the early Edo period by Fukushima Masanori, builder of Tomo Castle, as part of the town beneath the fortress, and the area has many shrines and temples which visitors can walk amongst and explore. The area also grew and developed as a prosperous port town, and accordingly is dotted with many historic sites and old-fashioned townscapes as well as monuments warning of the dangers of tsunami waves.

    Hiroshima Hatsukaichi-shi Miyahama Onsen
    First developed 50 years ago, this hot spring district is the closest to the famous island of Miyajima. Having only been turned into a hot spring district in 1964, it is relatively new; the waters of the area's radium springs are virtually colorless, tasteless, and odorless, and are said to be particularly effective at treating nerve pain, as well as such ailments as muscle soreness, joint pain, fatigue, women's diseases, and hemorrhoids. Situated on a small hill, visitors bathing in the hot spring baths here can enjoy views of Miyajima in the distance as well as oyster rafts floating in the gentle Seto Inland Sea. In addition to nearby Miyajima, considered one of the three most picturesque places in Japan, there are a variety of sightseeing destinations within easy walking distance, including the rock of Sanken Ichibo no Iwa, a boulder on which the intellectual Yoshida Shoin is said to have rested during his travels and which offers a view of three prefectures at once; the Zannensha, a Shinto shrine dedicated to scholarship and peace; and a stone monument inscribed with words by Muromachi period samurai and poet Imagawa Ryoshun.

Situated on the shore of Lake Ryuki, a lake formed by the building of Nukui Dam, the hotel is surrounded by abundant natural beauty. The colorless, odorless, tasteless waters of the hotel's simple mildly radioactive cold mineral spring are said to treat such ailments as rheumatism, muscle soreness, stiff shoulders, lower back pain, sprains, sensitivity to cold, high blood pressure, bruises, diabetes, and hemorrhoids. The hotel's hot spring bathing facilities are open to non-guests, but what is particularly of note is that the hotel offers rooms in which you can stay with your pet. Accordingly, the hotel is very popular with those who want to enjoy hot spring bathing and bring along their best four-legged friend. The hotel is also perfectly located for visiting various World Heritage Sites.
