  • Yubara Onsen
    Okayama Maniwa-shi Yubara Onsen
    A hot spring district sprawling amidst the Chugoku Mountains in northern Okayama Prefecture considered one of the foremost in western Japan and, together with Yunogo Onsen and Okutsu Onsen, counted one of the three great skin beautifying hot spring villages of Okayama. The district contains public bathhouses as well as hand- and footbaths, making it easy for visitors to enjoy hot spring waters in a variety of ways. The area's most famous location is the Sunafukiyu (sand bath) free, mixed gender outdoor bath where visitors can take a relaxing bath while enjoying the seasonal scenery and view of Yubara Dam in the background. Bathing suits for women can also be rented here for those who want them.

  • Seto Ohashi Onsen
    Okayama Kurashiki-shi Shimosho
    The Seto Ohashi Onsen Yamakou hotel has been a Kurashiki City staple for over 25 years; the hotel's bathhouse, particularly popular with senior citizens, draws its waters from a natural hot spring containing an abundance of sodium from 1,106 meters below ground. This bathhouse is open to non-guests, as well. The hotel's spring's waters are 30° and, after being further heated to 40° C, are used for all the bathhouse' tubs. The spring generates an abundant 650 liters per minute, and any water spilling out of the tubs is allowed to drain away rather than being recirculated. The spring's waters are said to treat a wide array of ailments, including nerve pain, muscle soreness, bruises, sensitivity to cold, cuts, burns, and women's diseases; they are also believed to aid recovery from fatigue and alleviate stress. There is another Seto Ohashi Onsen on the Kagawa side, but the properties of its spring are different, so visitors are encouraged to make sure they are going to the right location in advance.

  • Yunogo Onsen
    Okayama Mimasaka-shi Yunogo 323-1
    A hot spring district counted as one of the three great skin beautifying hot spring villages of Okayama Prefecture. This ancient hot spring area is said to have been discovered by the great priest Ennin during the Heian period as he traveled the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage, and is also known by the nickname the Heron Hot Spring. The area is host to numerous Japanese-style and Western-style hot spring hotels and day trip bathhouses, free footbaths, and Shinto shrines with fountains fed by source springs, and visitors can enjoy hot spring waters in a variety of ways here. The area's clear chloride springs contain an abundance of calcium, sodium, and other minerals as well as radium-infused bubbles and are said to help alleviate digestive disorders, rheumatism, women's diseases, and skin diseases.

  • Niimi Chiya Onsen
    Okayama Niimi-shi Chiyahanami 1336-5
    Niimi Chiya Onsen Ibuki no Sato, located in the northernmost part of Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture, is a hotel with hot spring bathing facilities which are also open to non-guests. The Tatara no Mori Auto Camping Ground is also located on the hotel's grounds, and visitors can enjoy both camping and hot spring bathing. The hotel has outdoor baths from which you can take in the natural, seasonal beauty of Chiya; indoor baths with huge windows looking out over gorgeous scenery; and a special bathing room with a tub which can even be entered while in a wheelchair. The waters of the hotel's simple alkaline hot spring are gentle on the skin and said to treat such ailments as nerve pain, muscle soreness, joint pain, frozen shoulders, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive diseases, and hemorrhoids, in addition to refreshing the mind and body. The hotel's restaurant is authorized by the Chiyagyu Shinkokai Chiya beef promotion association as a purveyor of Chiya beef, and its Chiya beef shabushabu hotpot and steak sukiyaki are highly renowned.

  • Yuba Onsen
    Okayama Okayama-shi Naka-ku Yuba
    First developed in the Heian period, this hot spring wells forth from the ground at the site of what was once Tatsunokuchi Castle. Located a 15 minute drive from Okayama Station, itself an area which retains much of its old castle town atmosphere, this curative spring was once exclusively used by the chief advisor to the Emperor. In the Kamakura period, the spring was opened to the general public by the monk Chogen. The radium spring generates an abundant flow and its piping hot waters are said to be effective for general indication and treat atopic dermatitis, psoriasis vulgaris, chronic eczema, and skin suppuration. The city of Okayama is known for its abundant natural beauty, its history, and its fruit. Visitors can enjoy seasonal fruit picking in the area as well as visit an abundant array of sightseeing destinations, including the Okayama Korakuen, a garden created some 300 years ago by Ikeda Tsunamasa, the second lord of Okayama Domain, and a now a designated Special Place of Scenic Beauty; Kibitsu-jinja Shrine, the Saijo Inari-san Myokyoji Temple, and Okayama Castle.
