- This is a ski resort located in Zao Onsen Yamagata City Yamagata Prefecture boasting the largest land area in Tohoku. The courses have a wide variety of length and inclines and it is also enjoyed by school excursion parties as well as families and couples. The upper ice-field course offers a wide view of the signature frost-covered trees. Seeing the magical frost-covered trees illuminated at night is a must. The Zao Onsen town spreads out from the mountain’s foot.

- This is a ski resort exclusively for summer skiing at Mt. Ubagatake (the second peak of Mt. Gassan) in Yamagata Prefecture approximately 25 minutes by car from Gassan Interchange on the Yamagata Expressway. As it is a ski resort in a heavy snow area it opens in April when other ski resorts close and skiing is possible until summer and the snow disappears. There are four slopes and the natural bumps utilizing the natural terrain are perfect for practicing mogul skiing. The biggest attraction is that it is warm and visitors can enjoy skiing in light clothing and even short sleeves. Skiing under the blue sky looking over the fresh green spreading below is refreshing.

- Kurobushi Highlands Snow Park, Jangle Jungle

- This ski park is located on Mt. Mizunashi in Kannonji, Higashine City. Known for its consistent quality and snow condition, these five slopes and four parks are covered with 100% natural power snow. This well designed park has a dedicated escalator connecting the parking lot directly to the Jangle Plaza where the information counter, changing rooms, shops, and a restaurant serving pizza from its specialized pizza oven are all in one spot.

- Zao Liza World Ski Resort
- Yamagata Pref. Kaminoyamashi Zaou Bokpyeong Highlands
- This ski resort is at Kaminoyama City’s Zao Bodaira Highland. With slopes about 1,000 meters above sea level, the resort is known for its high-quality powder and snow bound trees known as “ice monsters.” There are lodges with attached kitchens for rent and a restaurant serving authentic stone kiln pizza. It gets crowded with tourists in season.

- This ski resort is on Banseitairo Road in Banseichokariyasu, Yonezawa City. They have eight courses catering to skiers ranging from beginner to advanced, as well as lodges and a restaurant. They also offer various ski classes. Their “Yonezawa Family Golf” facility, open from May to late October, has a driving range for golf enthusiasts.
