Tedori Fire Festival (Kawakita Festival Northern Provinces Fireworks Display)
Event
With about 20,000 rounds of fireworks shot into the nighttime summer sky around the riverbed of Tedori River, this is the largest fireworks display in Hokuriku. The finale of 2,000 rounds packs quite a punch and always whips up the crowd. The Kawakita Festival is held concurrently with the fireworks. As a festival that combines mushi-okuri and okuri-bi, it features a 46-meter bonfire as a backdrop, the mushi-okuri taiko drumming for a good harvest, and the okuri-bi flame and Tedori koryu taiko drumming to venerate ancestors and set their souls at peace.
