Nishi Park
Event
Nishi Park extends over hilly land in the Chuo Ward of Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. With around 1,300 cherry trees blooming each spring, it has been selected for inclusion in the list of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. This is a very popular cherry blossom viewing spot, where visitors can admire a wide range of cherry tree varieties, including Yoshino, hill cherry, Oshima-zakura, Yoko, etc. The cherry blossom is at its best from late March through to early April each year. During this period, the cherry blossom is illuminated in the evenings. The views from the Park’s observation platform—which looks out over Fukuoka City, Hakata Bay and Shikanoshima Island—are also well worth seeing. Nishi Park has toilets and shops. During the cherry blossom viewing season, the roads in the Park are closed to vehicular traffic from 13:00 to 8:00 a.m. (and the Park’s car-park is also closed).
